daycare Policies

Rules to play & stay

To participate in American Boarding Kennels daycare, dogs and owners must meet the following basic eligibility requirements:

  • Age: Dogs must be at least three months of age.
  • Spay/Neuter: Dogs must be spayed/neutered no later than 7 months of age. Written proof is required. No exceptions.
  • Vaccines: Owners are required to provide written proof of current vaccinations administered by a veterinarian. For the protection of all clients, American Boarding Kennels requires the following vaccines:
    • Rabies: either annually or every 3 years, depending on the specific vaccine administered by your veterinarian.
    • Bordetella: annually.
    • Distemper: annually. This vaccine is generally administered via DHPP (distemper, hepatitis, parainfluenza, parvovirus).
    • Canine Influenza: annually. This is no longer required, but highly recommended to help protect against Canine Influenza respiratory illness. Consult your veterinarian.
    • Additionally, all dogs must be on an effective flea prevention program such as Frontline. A heartworm preventative that also prevents whipworm is strongly encouraged but not required; please discuss this with your veterinarian.
  • Health: Dogs must be in overall good health; owners must certify their dog is in good health and has not been ill with a communicable disease within the last 30 days, or if the dog has been ill, provide a veterinarian’s certification of health. To protect the health of all dogs, please do not bring your dog in if they are exhibiting any of the following symptoms: coughing, sneezing, vomiting or diarrhea.
  • Behavior: Dogs must be socialized with humans and other dogs. We screen each dog prior to admission to ensure they have a temperament that works well in our cage-free setting. This gives our staff a chance to get to know your dog, while providing your dog an opportunity to feel comfortable at our daycare. Keep in mind this setting is not suitable for all dogs. Typical reasons to be excluded from daycare include: aggressive behavior, uncontrollable dominance behaviors, biting humans or dogs, etc. American Boarding Kennels reserves the right to refuse any dog at any time.
  • Refunds: All sales are final.
