1. Should I bring my pet’s food?

At ABK our goal is to ensure your pet has a positive, stress free stay with us. As such, we prefer that you bring along your pet’s food. By maintaining your pet’s regular diet and feeding schedule we will be able to provide familiar elements of your pet’s home life. Package each feeding in a plastic ziplock or sealable bag labeled with your pet’s first and last name. Raw or wet food diets can be accommodated as long as each feeding is individually packaged and ready to serve.

2. Can I bring my dog’s bed and toys?

Your dog’s personal effects are welcome with a few exceptions. All the items must be machine washable and labeled. Unfortunately, we cannot accept stuffed beds of any kind. This is due to the health risks involved with your pet ingesting foam or stuffing. Even pets who normally do not chew on their beds may while staying in a new environment. Don’t worry though, we provide plush fleece bedding for each dog. Toys smaller than a tennis ball cannot be accepted. Our staff will take every precaution to ensure all toys and bedding are returned to you, but we cannot be responsible for lost or destroyed items.

3. What if my dog requires medication?

ABK will helpfully assist in maintaining your pet’s health. We have certified veterinary technicians on staff and on call 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. If the medication cannot be mixed into the food or given orally without food, please include a veterinary instruction sheet that can be easily obtained from your vet clinic. All medication is a $0.50 charge per administration per day.

4. What vaccinations does my pet need to have to stay at ABK?

For canine guests, we require current Distemper combination, Bordatella (Canine Cough), and Rabies vaccinations. For feline guests, we require current FVRCP, Rabies, and feline leukemia vaccination. From March to September all dogs and cats should be on a topical flea and tick product that has been applied at least 3 days before staying with us. Please bring a complete veterinary record for proof that your pet has received these and when they expire. Your vet clinic can fax ABK a copy upon your request.

5. What if my pet doesn’t have the required vaccinations?

All vaccinations should be given at least 10 days before your pet’s stay. This is recommended because some vaccines can cause mild discomfort or illness after they are administered. This is especially important with the Bordatella vaccine. The chance of your pet developing canine cough is greatly enhanced if the vaccine is given 2-3 days before your pet’s stay. ABK is conveniently located next to a well-known vet hospital with an outstanding reputation. Call us for more information regarding required vet services. For the protection of all our animal guests as well as our staff we do not allow any pet to stay at ABK if its vaccination record is not current. At ABK we strive to provide the best service and be as accommodating as possible, however, there are no exceptions to our vaccination policy.

6. Are reservations required to stay at ABK?

Reservations are strongly recommended to make sure your pet can stay in the accommodations of your choice. During the summer months and over holidays we book up in advance so we advise our customers to make reservations at least two weeks in advance during our busy periods. Doggy Daycare and playtimes are an extremely popular extra and tend to book up very quickly. Request these activities when you schedule your pet’s reservations to ensure your pup will be able to romp with his/her friends.

7. Do you board cats?

Absolutely! We have handcrafted, new kitty condos that allow your cat to stay with us in total comfort. If your cat enjoys being handled and receiving personal attention, we offer our Kitty Care package. The Kitty Care package includes a daily 15-minute session of brushing, playtime and treats on a carpeted activity tree, one-on-one with a member of our loving staff.

8. What if I arrive outside posted hours for check-in and check-out?

Our office hours provide periods of quiet relaxation for our animal guests. Office staff are the only ABK employees who can release a dog to his/her owner and can do so only during office hours. If there is an emergency that requires a late pick-up or early drop-off, please call us during our normal hours of operation to alert our staff. For your convenience, we are open 7 days a week for drop-off and pick-up.

Our office is closed, however we are always attending to the needs of our animal guests. There is a $3.00 rate increase over all major holidays.
